Shot over two years in the Sereer village of Mbissel, Safi Faye's fictional feature follows a fourteen year old girl promised in marriage to a wealthy man while she loves another, and screened in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 1996.
Fun fact: Unlike Faye's earlier documentary-style work, Mossane marked her turn to purely fictional storytelling after training as an ethnologist under Jean Rouch.
