Based on real accounts and shot in Zulu, Akin Omotoso's drama follows three South Africans on a single train journey to Johannesburg, each carrying a different reason for leaving home, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016.
Fun fact: Vaya is township slang for to go, and Omotoso won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Director for the film.
